ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS
Lines and wrinkles are inevitable with ageing and reflect a natural decrease in the skins collagen and elasticity over time. Unfortunately, once apparent they are usually permanent and tend to get worse. Factors such as sun exposure, smoking, alcohol consumption and dehydration, alongside repeated contraction of facial muscles, contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and the appearance of ageing. Anti-wrinkle injections (known as Botox®) work by relaxing the contraction of certain facial muscles, smoothing the overlying skin and restoring a naturally youthful look. They are quick and convenient with results typically lasting four months. Results are not permanent and the treatment can be repeated to maintain the effect – many people find that after several treatments the effect lasts longer.
Due to the use of a needle, there may be some minor bleeding or bruising at the injection site. Serious side effects and allergic-type reactions are extremely rare.
The treatment can take 3-4 days to start working. Results appear gradually and are usually fully visible 2 weeks following treatment. Very few individuals can see signs immediately after their appointment.
Depending on how many areas are treated, the appointment is normally less than one hour – you may go back to normal activities immediately.
The needles used for anti-wrinkle injections are so small that the injections are virtually painless.
